UK dubplate cutters
Few people know that you can transfer audio onto a vinyl record without having to go to a pressing plant or a mastering engineer with a rare Neumann lathe. Traditionally, you would have to order a batch of several hundred vinyl records or have a single lacquer disc (also known as an ‘acetate’) cut - with the latter typically degrading rapidly with each playback.
However, things have changed! Over 200 dubplate studios now operate in the United Kingdom alone, making durable one-off records and small batches. They are usually found mostly by word of mouth within a scene. Anyone outside that circle has little way of discovering that a cutting room exists a few miles away.
This directory is an attempt to give the cutters who want it a little more visibility. Listing is voluntary and by request, and every entry here was submitted by the studio itself.
Do you run a cutting studio? Submit your details using the dubplate cutting directory form. Each entry is checked, and the listing is updated regularly.
Hover a marker for the studio name, or click it to open the studio. Markers show the postcode district rather than the exact address, since many cutters work from home.
